General information

Orio is a small fishing village with barely five thousand inhabitants on the Basque Coast, near San Sebastián, nestling in a natural beauty spot. On one side, the Oria estuary flows into the sea next to the beach, against the backdrop of the green mountains lining the coast; this is why it is said that Orio is blue and green.

The estuary, the sea and the mountains all make for breathtaking scenery conducive to long and lovely walks and to doing all kinds of activities: rambling, cycling, all kinds of fishing, rowing, canoeing, surfing, windsurf, swimming, paragliding...

But Orio is also yellow. The plates on which its street names are printed are yellow, the signs of many restaurants and shops are yellow, there are also many yellow awnings throughout the village... And the truth is that yellow is the colour of the trainera and the oarsmen of Orio. Rowing enjoys great popularity and tradition in Orio, and literally turns the town yellow.

CRO Orio AE has one of the best facilities in the country: large hangars and jetty, gymnasium, maintenance workshop and offices.
It is located 1 km away from the estuary, boasting 7 km of navigable water, which makes it possible to practice fixed- and slide-seat rowing all year round.
